Chanute Business and Professional Women met on Nov. 13 for their regular meeting. Linda Powers was the hostess. There was no program but a short business meeting. Thank you notes were read from Matthew Carpenter and Kaylee Kernick for the scholarships they received and the support throughout their college years.

The group discussed making a publicity notebook with all the various ways it has promoted the organization. This will be submitted to the state publicity chairman and contain pictures and clippings from the paper plus a notation of the Facebook entries.

Kathy will get pictures of the meetings and activities to Sharon and she will assemble the notebook. Kathy posts monthly on Facebook.

Kathy and Sharon followed through with the community service project at Credo Senior Living by sorting puzzles and books no longer needed and donated to the USD 413 Foundation for use by the teachers and unused articles would help with their annual rummage sale.

Kathy and her granddaughter, Gracie, put up the BPW Christmas tree at the Art Gallery. Members helped with donated items for under the tree and ornaments. Sharon strung popcorn and cranberries for the garland. Lots of toys from the past can be found under the tree. The theme this year was “Just An Old Fashion Christmas.” People can visit the Art Gallery and can vote on their favorite tree.

For information about the organization call president Sharon Carpenter at 620-431-8532. The group meets on the second Wednesday of the month during the winter months at 5:15 p.m.
