Jolly Jayhawkers 4-H Club

The December meeting of the Jolly Jayhawkers 4-H Club took place on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Grant Community Building in Stark.

President Reed Hurt called the meeting to order. Guy Taylor led the club in the flag salute. The monthly roll call of “What is one Christmas wish you have?” was read by junior secretary Brecken Clasen. The roll was answered by 12 members, one cloverbud, two leaders and five parents or guests.

Club leader Mandy Duling reminded members of a few important dates that were coming up: Record book screening, District and Regional Club Days, deadlines for scholarships, KSU producer days, as well as upcoming project meetings across the district.

A correspondence note was shared with the club, thanking members for helping with the Stark United Methodist Community Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you to members Reed Hurt, Arlo and Oden Maddox and Casyn Cosby for helping serve.

Devyn Westoff gave the parliamentary report over meeting quorum and how to hold a meeting when the quorum is not met.

A committee report was given, reminding members of possible upcoming concession stand fundraisers in February. During old business, the group finalized plans for the upcoming Erie Christmas Parade and the Club Float for Dec. 11.

Ellie Dillinger introduced the program for the month. The club program included project talks from members Brynn Wolken and Cole Wolken. Both members presented on a canvas painting that they had recently completed during a painting class.

New members Bella Uden and Briggs Clasen requested to join the Jolly Jayhawkers 4-H club as a member and Cloverbud participants for the new programming year.

Olivia Taylor led the club in happy birthday for the December birthdays for this month’s song. Arlo Mattox led the group in the 4-H pledge to end the meeting.

The next monthly meeting for the Jolly Jayhawkers will be held at 4 p.m. on Jan. 12 at the Grant Community Center in Stark. — Braxton Clasen, Club reporter
