Connie Sue Witten, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024.
Her educational journey included graduating from Erie High School and studying at Ozark Bible College. Connie worked for the U.S. Census Bureau as a surveyor and an A.L. Williams financial investment representative.
Connie found community and fellowship as a member of Thayer Christian Church, as a superintendent in charge of attendance and class materials while also being a kitchen committee member, serving in the nursery and the wife of an elder.
Her passions and interests included singing, taking pictures, sewing, cooking and traveling. Her keen eye for antiques brought her great joy and personal fulfillment. Connie and Tom enjoyed getting together with friends and family to play cards and enjoy a meal. Because she enjoyed cooking and seeing the pleasure that eating brought to others, if you came to her home during mealtime, you would eat something she had prepared in her kitchen.
Connie was big-hearted and so generous. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by loving sons, Dennis and Delbert; daughters, Danta Dixon and Rosalyn Vail; grandchildren, Elise Witten, Faith Hockett, Cody Busby and Sharaa Sweat; great-grandchildren, Anna, Jonathon and Hope; sisters, Clarinda Larson (George) and Carolyn Hurst (Robert); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Florence (Swiler) Hines; her beloved husband, Tom; her sister, Sharon; and her brothers, Carl and Charles.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Thayer Christian Church. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Thayer Christian Church.
The family suggests memorials to Thayer Christian Church or Hidden Haven Christian Camp.
The service is under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 N. Forest Ave., Chanute, KS, 66720.
