Texas man injured in motorcycle wreck Sunday

THAYER — A Texas man received suspected serious injuries in a motorcycle accident on Sunday afternoon south of Thayer, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The accident shut down the highway for a time.

The accident happened at 12:44 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 169 at the intersection with 27000 Road in Labette County, or 3.1 miles north of U.S. 400.

The KHP report said that a 2005 Harley Davidson FXD motorcycle driven northbound by Justin T. Brockway, 19, Denton, Texas, was traveling behind a 2015 Ford Focus driven by David J. Bruce, 23, Norman, Oklahoma. Bruce was turning left onto 27000 Road and the motorcycle went left of center in a no-passing zone and struck the driver’s side door of Bruce’s car.

Brockway was taken to Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa with suspected serious injuries. Bruce was not injured. Brockway was wearing a helmet and Bruce was wearing a seat belt.
