‘Songs from the Great War’ featured at NCCC on Sunday
The Neosho County Community College Department of Music presents “Songs From the Great War” at 4 p.m. Sunday in the NCCC Auditorium.
The concert will feature NCCC students, joined by professional musicians from the Kansas City metro area, performing songs about World War I, World War II, modern remembrance songs and a sing-along. Admission is free.
A meet and greet and reception will follow the concert.
Chanute City Commission meets Tuesday
The Chanute City Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Memorial Building, 101 S. Lincoln.
The agenda includes discussion on the housing tax credit program and considering various resolutions. The public is welcome.
College board to meet Wednesday
The November meeting of the Neosho County Community College Board of Trustees will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Student Union Board Room.
Ribbon cutting for NCCC greenhouse
The Neosho County Community College Board of Trustees will attend a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, for the Yuza Family Greenhouse.
The board named the greenhouse for the Yuza family at a recent meeting.
Quilt of Valor to be awarded on Friday, Nov. 15
Five of the six Quilts of Valor on display at the Chanute Art Gallery, 17 N. Lincoln, will be awarded to a service member or veteran at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the gallery.
More than 350,000 quilts have been awarded through the Quilts of Valor Foundation.
Connie Schmidt, chair of the local chapter of Quilts of Valor, will award the quilts on Nov. 15 to Chanute-area veterans.
The gallery’s quilt display is sponsored by the local Quilts of Valor chapter and the Sew’n’Sew Quilt Guild.
The gallery is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
