Motorcycle rider injured

At 8:12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, on K-39 two miles east of Chanute, a pickup and a motorcycle collided, sending the motorcycle rider to the hospital with suspected serious injuries.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Maddox A. Wehlage, 17, Humboldt, was eastbound on K-39 and turning onto Harper Road and failed to yield to a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Kenneth E. Colston, 57, of Chanute. The motorcycle struck the truck on the passenger side. Colston was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City for suspected serious injuries. Wehlage was not injured.
