Chanute falls one match short of state
The SEK League champion Chanute Blue Comets, seeded fifth in the KSHSAA 4A East Sub-State, fell in the championship match to Holton on Saturday.
Chanute opened Saturday’s postseason play with a dominant, 2-0 (25-9, 25-9) win over Atchison.
In the championship match, Chanute fell to host Holton, 2-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-22), giving Holton the bid to the state tournament.
Chanute’s season ended with a 25-11 overall record.
Humboldt bounced in first round Heading to Girard for KSHSAA 3A Sub-State volleyball action, the Humboldt Cubs fell to Prairie View, 2-0 (25-16, 25-17) in the first round on Saturday.
With the loss, Humboldt’s season wraps with a 29-12 record.
