Niche ranks NCCC best community college in Kansas

Niche, an online platform connecting students with colleges, ranked Neosho County Community College as the Best Community College in Kansas as part of its 2025 Best Colleges in America rankings.

Based on a thorough analysis of academics, athletics, food and campus life, Niche’s rankings are geared to provide students and their families with valuable insights into the student experience at nearly 4,000 colleges nationwide, according to a release from NCCC.

“NCCC is proud to be recognized by Niche as one of the top community colleges in Kansas,” said NCCC President Brian Inbody in a prepared statement. “Our wonderful faculty and staff work hard to provide the best learning experience possible for our students, and awards like this show that it’s working. Our students are achieving so much, and I am grateful that Niche recognizes that achievement with this ranking.”

NCCC received an overall report card grade of B plus, placing the college in the 80th percentile in the nation. Only two Kansas institutions received higher grades — Kansas University received an A and Kansas State University received an A minus — and NCCC was the only community college in Kansas to earn higher than a B. NCCC was also named the Best Online College in Kansas and the No. 17 Best Online College in America. Out of over 750 schools, NCCC was named the No. 74 Best Community College in America.

The categories in which the college ranked highest were safety (A plus), student life (A minus) and diversity (A).

Niche’s college rankings combine data from the U.S. Department of Education with user input such as reviews, ratings and survey responses from current students and alumni. Alongside comprehensive profiles of every college in America, Niche’s rankings aim to reflect what makes each college unique.

“We’re committed to helping support students in finding the school that fits their individual needs and understanding how impactful their college decision is on their future,” said Luke Skurman, CEO of Niche. “Using top-of-class data analysis combined with real student experiences, we believe our rankings provide a real framework for what a student can expect when they step onto campus.”

Niche’s rankings include categories for top universities, best liberal arts colleges, best value colleges and many more.
