HESSTON — Competing at the KSHSAA 4A Girls Golf Championships in Hesston, Chanute placed 10th out of 11 teams.
Delaney Hastings of Chanute was the top individual finisher for Chanaute, placing 18th. Hastings shot a 90 in the first round before posting a four-stroke improvement score of 86 in Round 2. She was the only Chanute golfer to make it past the cut.
Chanute’s Rainey Carter posted a score of 104 in the first round. Maddie Kepley shot a 106, Layla Reinecke 107, Lovie Cosby 138 and Raegan Marple 144.
Labette County’s Kylie Habiger also competed at state, posting a score of 103 in the first round.
Hayden won the team state title with a combined score of 698 strokes over two days. Wellington was runner-up (713), followed by McPherson (727), Augusta (729), Buhler (744) and Baldwin (754).
Wamego’s Addison Douglass won the individual state title, shooting a 70 in the first round and a 72 in the second round for a score of 142 strokes, 10 strokes better than Winfield’s Lilli Sympson, who finished runner- up.
