Cubs tame Lions on homecoming

HUMBOLDT — Holding the Bluestem Lions to one first down and 49 yards of offense over 39 plays, the Humboldt Cubs cruised in their homecoming game, winning 50-0 on Friday night.

Blake Ellis completed 5-of-9 passes for 198 yards and two scores while rushing for 84 yards and four touchdowns.

Mason Sterling added a touchdown and 96 yards on the ground while Cole Mathes rushed for 53 yards and a score.

Humboldt linebacker Kyler Isbell tallied a game-high 15 tackles while Ty Shaughnessy added 10.

Humboldt remained undefeated with the win, improving to 6-0 overall.
