GALS FCE met Monday, September 16, in the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church with 15 members present to answer roll call of a healthy habit they practice.

Members volunteered to bake cakes and cookies for the upcoming State Convention and the Fall Follies. Story Hour sessions with child care providers in the home will likely resume during the upcoming holiday season; discussion was held, but no action taken, as to changing the start time of the annual Halloween Parade; the Holiday Gift Market is filling up with 19 vendors signed up; and members voted to donate a total of $200 to three different agencies of the State and National FCE.

She’Ree Scarrow presented the lesson, ‘The Silent Killer, Facts About Ovarian Cancer’, in conjunction with September Awareness Month. She began with a questionnaire testing members’ knowledge of the disease followed by facts on recognizing symptoms, risk factors, prevention and what to do.

Vicki Wood reported $57.50 collected for the Milk Voucher Project and Carol Bauer reported 32 volunteer hours used.

Next month’s meeting will return to the Fellowship Hall on October 21, when Michelle Umholtz will give the lesson ‘Make Active Habits Stick’. Judy Middendorf will act as hostess
