PARSONS — Seven unearned runs damned the Parsons Vikings as they fell to the Erie Red Devils on Friday, 8-6.
Despite out-hitting Erie, 12-5, six errors charged to the Vikings allowed Erie to escape Parsons with the win.
Adalyn Morris was charged with the loss in the circle, striking out four and allowing five hits and just one earned run.
“I’m proud of Addy for keeping her composure,” Parsons head coach Shelby Liska said. “She threw very well. We’re making some defensive changes so she feels more support. At this point in the season, there’s plays that need to be made that aren’t being made. So it’s go-time.”
Andi Nordt delivered two hits, two walks and two RBIs for Erie. Addy Boaz pitched a complete game for the Red Devils, striking out five while allowing five earned runs and 12 hits.
Braelyn Mitchell had three hits while Kadence Ball had two RBIs for the Vikings.
“We had some quality at-bats, we just need to work on timely hitting to bust the game open,” Liska said. “We left runners on. We have to be able to bust it open every inning. That’s the mentality I want for our program in the future. We have to be aggressive and disciplined. We’ve got to push runs across.”
The win for Erie was its third of the season. Parsons fell to 2-8 overall with six straight losses. The Vikings dropped two games in as many days by a combined three runs — 8-7 to Cherryvale on Thursday then Friday’s defeat to Erie.
“It’s highly frustrating knowing the potential we had to take two games on the week,” Liska said. “I know our girls are coming in hungry. But the momentum is starting to shift. Change is coming from my perspective as a coach with the lineup. I’m ready to hit it hard because we’ve got league teams left. I’m hoping we’re prepared.”

Parsons returns to SEK League play this week, playing Chanute on Tuesday then Coffeyville on Friday with both games on the road.
“We had a rough outing the first time around against Chanute, so I want to see us put the ball in play,” Liska said. “And we need to make plays behind Addy. Against Coffeyville, I know we got that first win. But I want that sweep.”
