YATES CENTER — In a thrilling Week 3 showdown, the St. Paul Indians moved to 2-1 on the year with a 34-26 road win against the Yates Center Wildcats on Friday.
St. Paul, with the score knotted at 20-20 at halftime, took command in the third quarter with 14 points while holding the Wildcats to zero.
Yates Center found the endzone once in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
St. Paul rushed for 177 yards to Yates Center’s 84, while the Wildcats outgained the Indians through the air, 125-44.
Devin Vogel led the Indians with 104 rushing yards on nine carries while adding a touchdown. Brec Norris tallied a pair of touchdowns on 15 carries totalling 68 yards.
Preston Heitman completed 2-of-3 passes for 36 yards and a touchdown for the Indians, with Jackson Beachner being on the receiving end of the score.
Ben Cook completed 10-of-18 passes for 125 yards, a score and two interceptions for Yates Center.
