Daughters of Isabella recognize annual awards

Members of The Daughters of Isabella, St. Luke’s Circle, St. Paul gathered April 8 at the parish hall in St. Paul to celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the founding of their circle.

Membership chairman reported 37 members paid to date. A report of the D of I State Convention held the first week in April was given by Regent Linda DeGarmo. The quilt, made and donated to the auction by Mary Gilpin brought $210.00. Special collections are now underway to support the Aid and Support After Pregnancy program. The 2026 Spiritual Conference will be held in Great Bend. The State Convention will be held again in 2027, location to be announced. The new state Regent is Peggy Feltis of Hays. Members were reminded of the three purposes of the D of I, in addition to being the auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus are unity, charity, friendship. Awards for years of membership were given at the state convention as follows: - 60 years, Viola Gouvian; 55 years, Marilyn Bradshaw and Pauline Vitt; 50 years, Judy Fager; 20 years - Alice Schettler; 15 years Susan Come and Lois Ann Corn. Recognition was given on the five year mark.

Following the meeting a beautiful anniversary cake was served in addition to other refreshments and punch. Special gifts were presented and provided by Regent DeGarmo consisting of a wooden D of I medallion and candy and a needle point emblem in the D of I colors of red and yellow made by Mary Jean Zandler. Cynthia VanLeuween led the group in a couple of fun games. Hostess gifts were won by Francie Bohrer, Cindy Van Leeuwen, Marlene Clark, Jolene Born, Judy Fager Mary Gilpin and Cheryl Trepagnier. It was an enjoyable evening.

Hostesses were: Mary Jean Zandler, Cynthia Van Leeuwen, Loretta Hofer, Mary Lou Reeves with Cheryl Trepagnier assisting.
