MUSEUM NEWS

Free admission to Chanute’s Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum is supported by our generous Passport Sponsors. This month’s underwriter is Farmers Union Midwest Agency/Alonzo Insurance. May will be sponsored by the NCCC Foundation. Please take advantage of free museum days and thank these wonderful organizations!

The popular Safari Family Fun Day returns Saturday, April 26! Activities around the historic train depot include a petting zoo, games, food booths, and more from 9 am to 1 pm.

The Chanute Historical Society and Safari Museum will be open to visitors. Check out Curator Jacque Borgeson Zimmer’s new special exhibit featuring recent artifact donations and volunteer opportunities. Our museum trustees and staff were honored to share the new mini-documentary about Martin and Osa Johnson. “Osa Johnson Queen of the Jungle” was written, directed, and edited by recent WSU Media Arts graduate Mason Vietti, produced by Alison Mih, and narrated by Nolan Whitney and Jayci Fauth. This impressive five-minute program is posted on the museum’s Facebook page and on vietti.tv/osa. Take time to watch “Osa Johnson Queen of the Jungle.” Are you an admirer of the classic zebra-striped book “I Married Adventure” by Chanute’s own Osa Johnson? The following was posted on Instagram: “If you’re a fan of thrifting, antiques, and all things vintage-inspired, then you’ve probably heard of I Married Adventure – the ultimate Grandmillennial staple. This stunning book, originally published in 1940, features the thrilling true stories of a couple’s life spent exploring the world. But what really makes it a must-have for collectors is that gorgeous cover – hello, chic and timeless vibes! It’s become a beloved piece for home decor enthusiasts (myself included) because it blends nostalgia with style – perfect for displaying on your bookshelf or coffee table. If you’re looking to add some vintage flair to your space, this book is a total game-changer.

Have you added this to your collection yet? Or is it still on your wish list?” Can’t afford an original “I Married Adventure”? It’s available from our museum store as a quality paperback with, you guessed it, a zebra-striped cover. “I Married Adventure” is an inspiring read and will look awesome at your place.

And did you know “I Married Adventure” has appeared in numerous engagement and wedding photo shoots over the years?

The Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum and Osa’s Ark Museum Store are open Tuesday through Saturday 10-5. For more information call the museum at 620-431-2730, visit SafariMuseum. com, and check us out on Facebook.
