The fitness center renovation is expected to begin soon
The Neosho County Community College Wellness Center, located north of Panther Gymnasium on the Chanute Campus, is set to receive renovations this summer thanks to a $330k donation from NCCC alumnus and MLB pitcher Matt Strahm. Huntyr Schwegman | NCCC

The fitness center renovation is expected to begin soon, with completion projected for the Fall 2025 semester. The improvements align with the college’s purpose of enhancing student success and athletic enrichment. The Strahm Family Strength Center, aka, “The Spot” will be used not only by student-athletes, but also for classes such as Senior Fitness, and is open for use by employees and students who are not on athletic teams during open hours.

NCCC President Dr. Brian Inbody emphasized the significance of Strahm’s contribution to the college community.

“This is an incredible investment in our students and our institution,” Dr. Inbody said. “Matt’s generosity is a testament to the strong connection he still feels to the Chanute community, and we are honored to have his name associated with this facility. His gift will benefit our students for years to come.”

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the Strahm Family Wellness Center, with more information to be announced in the coming months.
