The Chanute Area Veterans Memorial is preparing for its annual Veterans Day paver installation, and the deadline for applications is quickly approaching. To ensure pavers are placed in time for the Veterans Day ceremony, applications must be submitted by October 1st.
Pavers honor the service of veterans and are a lasting tribute in the Memorial. A veterans’ brick is $150, while an 8x8 corporate paver for the sidewalk costs $500.
To date, the Memorial has placed a total of 1,050 pavers, with four pending placement. The breakdown of pavers by service branch includes: Air Force: 126 Army: 569 Coast Guard: 6 Marines: 75 Navy: 237 Women’s Army Corps: 1 Civil War veterans: 3 Branch unknown: 31 British Forces: 2 Applications for pavers can be picked up at the office of FUMA Insurance or at the American Legion Post 170.
