Peggy Mae Conway

Peggy Mae Conway, 95, of Chanute passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute. Mary was born on Aug. 23, 1929 in Chanute, the daughter of Leroy and Kathryn (Davis) Conway. Peggy grew up in Chanute and graduated from Chanute High School in 1947. After high school Peggy began working in the kitchen at Murray Hill, most grew up knowing her as the “Lunch Lady.” Peggy was a very kind, loving and caring person. Friends and family were very important to Peggy and she considered all of her friends family.

Peggy loved going to the casino with her sister Mary Lou and spending as much time with her as she possibly could. Peggy and Mary also loved cooking and baking for kids that went to the Chanute Public Schools. Peggy was a member of the First Christian Church and also the Red Hat Society. Peggy and Mary Lou were early members of the WOW Group. There was never a dull moment when they attended. Peggy was a very special woman and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2023 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday, April 11, at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church in Chanute with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to Children’s Mercy or First Christian Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh. com.
