Elsie Elizabeth Byers

Elsie Elizabeth (Crawford) Byers, 94, of Lacygne, passed away at KU Medical Center in Paola, on March 24, 2025. She chose to be cremated.

Elsie Byers was born in Melvern, on Oct. 27, 1930, to William and Hazel (Rider) Crawford.

She attended Humboldt High School and married her high school sweetheart, Donald Jess Byers on June 15, 1945.

Elsie enjoyed painting, crocheting, photography, reading, and all things nature. She worked at Total Image Photography in Chanute. Elsie’s favorite Bible verse was Psalm 91.

Elsie is survived by their two daughters, Pamela Sue Dicks and her husband, Thomas, of Lacygne; Cathy Ann Brotton and her husband, Stephen, of Wichita; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Evelyn Buchanan, Peggy (Clao) Milner, and Sharon (Rodney) Hanson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and William; her brother Lawrence; three of her sisters; Betty Jean, Rachel, and Shirley; and her first grandson, Jamie.

Don and Elsie Byers were long time members of the First Christian Church of Chanute where Elsie loved volunteering in the food pantry.
