Cheryl Lynn Cook, 67, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away peacefully at Heritage Healthcare and Rehab on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Born Feb. 5, 1958, in Putnam, Connecticut, to Billie and Ethel (Bugbee) Hartwig, Cheryl’s life was a testament to her warm heart and enduring spirit.
Cheryl graduated from Yates Center High School and furthered her education at Coffeyville Community College. On Nov. 29, 1990, she married the love of her life, Robin Cook, in Yates Center; a union that brought her immense joy and companionship.
Throughout her career, Cheryl contributed her skills and dedication to NuWay Campers and served as a cherished cook at the Yates Center School, retiring in 2022.
Beyond her professional life, Cheryl possessed a keen eye for hidden treasures, finding immense satisfaction in antiquing at auctions and garage sales. She also cherished the peace and tranquility of fishing, enjoying many hours spent by the water.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Ethel Hartwig; her sister, JoAnne Curtis; and her brother, Glenn Hartwig. She is survived by her loving husband, Robin Cook; and her brothers, Mark and Bill Hartwig.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home. No services are scheduled at this time. While there will be no formal gathering, Cheryl’s memory will be cherished by her family and friends who knew and loved her.
