On Sunday, March 23, at the High Prairie Church, President Tatum Francis called to order the March meeting of the High Prairie Pioneers 4-H Club. Flag Leader Sapherya Kuhn then led the club in the flag salute and the 4-H pledge.
The club had designated this meeting as Grandparents Day to honor them for all they do to help them with 4-H and in their lives. The members then introduced their grandparents and other special guests who were in attendance.
Secretary Delanie Stich read the minutes from the February meeting and then conducted the roll call which was “What is your favorite thing to do with your grandparents?” and was answered by 20 members and three leaders.
Song leader Locklynn Vest led the club in singing “BINGO”.
Treasurer Gabe Engelman gave the treasurer’s report. Reporter Hunter Reaves gave the reporter’s report. Parliamentarian Oliver Bilby and Leader Andrew Engelman explained why officer reports are given. The 4-H Council Representative Garrett Engelman reported that the next meeting would be March 24.
Leader Kimberly Francis reminded the members of several workshops coming up that may be of interest to them. Spring livestock shows are starting up and would be great practice for the fair and to remember that small animal tag day is May 2-3. Leader Andrew Engelman reminded the club that registration is now open for summer camps and if they need any help with spring livestock shows or finding animals to buy to ask the leaders.
There was no old business. In new business Danielle Stich and Erin Bilby presented bills to the club. The club voted to move April’s meeting to April 13, since the regular date was Easter.
Vice-President Garrett Engelman announced the program. Tatum Francis gave a wildlife project talk about how to make and manage food plots for deer hunting. Hunter Reaves gave a talk about the history of pencils and handed out 4-H pencils to the members. Locklynn Vest gave an electronics project talk and explained some of the basic components and showed a project she had made.
Recreation leader Caleb Kuhn led the club in playing toilet paper wrap relay.
Leader Kimberly Francis had the members who had brought a pencil and paper to take notes to pick a number between 1-30 and Jones Bilby won the prize. The Spirit Stick was awarded to Henry Crawshaw for respectfully sitting and listening to the members talks and participating in the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned by the members standing and saying the 4-H motto.
Members joined with their grandparents for cake, punch and other snacks provided by the club.
