G.A.L.S. FCE met for their regular monthly meeting Mon., March 17, in the Fellowship Hall of Humboldt Methodist Church with Michelle Umholtz as meeting hostess and secretary stand-in. Eleven members answered roll call by identifying a modern convenience they didn’t have as a child.

The usual secretary and treasurer’s reports were given and president, Carol Bauer talked about “Bake & Take Day”, National Procrastination Week, the Walk Kansas event, Spring Fling and the SE Area Recognition Day. Spring Fling, including dinner, will be April 1 in Erie; reservations are encouraged by Mar. 25.

Jane Works of the Story Hour committee, reported they are currently working on an Easter program for the day care locations. Works also will be making the presentation to the top Humboldt High School female graduate(s) in May.

Research into a possible GALS Community Service Project for the Middle School will be reported on and brought before the membership at a future meeting.

She’Ree Scarrow presented an interesting lesson, ‘Appreciating Generational Differences’, taking a look back at decades of generations from the Traditionalist, to Baby Boomer, to Generation X, to the Millennials, which include Generations Y and Z. All of which brought forth interesting comments and opinions from members.

Food pantry Milk Voucher Project monies collected totaled $42.57 and hours of volunteering totaled 17. The next meeting will be April 21 at the same place, same time; Nancy Weilert will give the lesson ‘Nourishing the Brain: Nutritional Recommendations for Combatting Neurodegenerative Diseases’.
