Benji, a 10 pound Chihuahua/Yorkie mix, lived with his family in Gainesville, Florida. In mid-February, Benji disappeared from a truck stop in Kentucky. On March 5, Benji was impounded in Chanute after running loose for over a week. At the shelter, Benji was examined and scanned for a microchip. The microchip information led city animal control officers to contact his owners, who drove about 20 hours to Chanute and were reunited with Benji on Saturday, March 8, according to the animal control Facebook page. Further information was not available. Courtesy photo
