KANSAS CITY — Hitting the road for the first round of the NJCAA Region VI Tournament on Monday, the Neosho County Panthers men’s season ended with a 92-56 loss to the Kansas City Kansas Blue Devils.
Kansas City Kansas built up a 53-24 lead by halftime, snuffing out any upset hopes the Panthers had.
BJ Stewart led the Blue Devils with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting while Pierce Ross added 18 points.
Damian Jones, a sophomore, led the Panthers with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting — he was the lone Neosho County player to surpass double digits.
With the season-ending loss, Neosho County finished the year with a 10-19 overall record and 3-11 mark in KJCCC play.
Kansas City Kansas, the No. 2 seed in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament, will face No. 3 Highland in the semifinals on Friday. The winner of the tournament is guaranteed a spot in the national tournament.
