The Omega Iota Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) on the Neosho County Community College (NCCC) Chanute campus was recognized for its efforts to bring life-changing benefits and opportunities to students in 2024.
“Receiving recognition as a REACH Rewards chapter is a wonderful representation of the hard work and service that defines the students that made this happen,” said Alan Murray, Omega Iota chapter adviser. “We have some wonderful students that have worked really hard, and PTK membership has given these students some great opportunities to amplify that hard work and find success in the next stage of their academic careers.”
The recognition is part of PTK’s REACH Rewards program, which celebrates and rewards PTK chapters who excelled in membership engagement by achieving exceptionally high rates of membership acceptance in the 2024 calendar year.
Over 90% of PTK members will complete an associate degree or transfer to a four-year college, compared to just 31% of students nationally. PTK membership provides students access to millions of dollars in scholarships — $1.5 million in competitive scholarships through the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation and more than $384 million in transfer scholarships to over 850 four-year colleges through PTK Connect™.
The Omega Iota chapter inducted 64 new members in 2024, bringing the chapter’s total membership to over 2,500 since 1973.
