Sherry Lee Schooley

MANHATTAN — Sherry Lee Schooley, 63, of Manhattan died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City.

She was born in El Dorado on Aug. 19, 1961, and she was the oldest of six children. Sherry moved with her family from El Dorado to Chanute when she was in third grade. She graduated with honors from Chanute High School.

Sherry enjoyed learning and continued her education throughout her life. She worked in health care for 20 years and then pursued a career in accounting.

She was married to Derrell Schooley for nine years.

Sherry enjoyed astronomy, reading, music and gaming. She battled cancer since 1994, which affected several aspects of her life.

She lived at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan since 2021.

Survivors include four siblings, Chris Diller (Kelly) of Erie, Steve Diller of Yukon, Oklahoma, John Diller of Westmoreland and Amy Parker (Tony) of Manhattan; seven nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Marlene Belt (John) of Wichita.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Basil Allen (Al) Diller Jr. and Ruth Eilene (Hopkins) Diller; a sister, Mary Eilene Diller; and many loved grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. The service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

Memorial contributions in memory of Sherry are suggested to the Meadowlark Hills Good Samaritan Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS, 66502.
