GALS FCE
GALS FCE members were treated to ‘Afternoon Tea’, Monday, February 17, in the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, prior to the regular scheduled meeting. Hosts and program presenters for the evening were Diana Holmes and Judy Arbeiter.
Holmes reviewed the history and origin of tea and ‘tea parties’ with further explanation of four different types of tea leaves. With this knowledge in mind, Arbeiter demonstrated how to create the perfect cup of tea and shared her process in making crumpets. Fourteen members were served trays ladened with crumpets, scones, finger sandwiches and various sweets along with their tea choice presented in beautiful cup and saucer sets from the personal collection of Holmes.
Proceeding to the regular business of GALS, reports were heard from the treasurer, Michelle Umholtz, Council Representative, Mary Anne Lower, and President, Carol Bauer. Members voted approval to donate added prize monies to sixteen ‘open class’ categories at the Allen County Fair this year and also to increase the prize monies for the Glenna Wulf and Suzanne Stanley memorials. The decision was made to focus attention on ‘Understanding Hospice’ as the unit’s 2025 project. Milk Voucher monies collected totaled $24.15 and 33 hours recorded Volunteering.
The next meeting will be March 17 at the church. She’Ree Scarrow will be lesson leader ‘Appreciating Generational Differences’ and Michelle Umholtz will act as hostess.
