Chanute woman charged with attempted second-degree murder

Chanute police on Sunday arrested a woman for attempted second degree murder following a domestic violence call.

On Sunday, Chanute police responded to the 1000 block of South Denman Avenue for a disturbance.

After an investigation, officers arrested Holly Miller, 55, Chanute, for domestic battery and Katherine M. Stanislaus, 72, Chanute, for aggravated domestic battery and attempted murder in the second degree, according to a social media post by Chanute police.

Stanislaus has been charged in Neosho County District Court with attempted second degree murder, a level three felony. The complaint alleges that Stanislaus attempted to kill Miller. A level three felony could result in a prison term of a minimum of 55 months to a maximum of 247 months, depending on a person’s criminal history. All suspects are presumed innocent, unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
