Chanute Area Retired School Personnel
The Chanute Area Retired School Personnel met on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the Cleaver Dining Room of the Student Union at Neosho County Community College. Greeters were Bob Cross and Kathy Blair. President Nancy Brooks opened the meeting and Dean Dillard gave the invocation.
The next business on the agenda was the installation of board members. They were Nancy Brooks, Jane Martin, Anita DeLaTorre, Jean Bearrick, Kathy Blair, Janice Wilcox and Diana Saving. Nancy introduced guests Laurie Ward and Paul Davis. The program by Mike Bruner was on the Kansas Legislature and how it works.
Reports: — District 6 Director/Membership – Jane Martin reminded members that Lobby Day in Topeka at the Capitol is Wednesday, Feb 12. She encouraged everyone to attend.
— Community Service – Anita DeLaTorre/Dorie Slane/Mary Dawson shared the cards used to decorate the Christmas tree at the Art Gallery. They reminded membership to look for Box Tops for Education on products and to keep turning in receipts from G&W.
— Courtesy & Welfare – Patsy Krokstrom sent out four birthday cards and one thinking of you card.
— Health – Kathy Blair shared some information from the National Institute of Health on things membership should be doing to stay strong in later years.
Nancy reported that Day Slane, scholarship committee, has sent out the scholarship information to the various schools.
The next general meeting will be Wednesday, March 5, at 12:30 p.m. at the NCCC Cleaver Dining Room.
