Camp host for season

Library workers attend legislative day at Statehouse

Representatives from the Southeast Kansas Library System (SEKLS) participated in the Kansas Library Association’s Library Legislative Day at the state capitol in Topeka on Jan. 28.

While there, they attended an address by Rep. Adam Smith and met with available legislators who represent SEKLS’ service area, including Rep. Bradley Barrett, Rep. Doug Blex, Rep. Ron Bryce, Sen. Michael Fagg, Rep. Fred Gardner, Rep. Dan Goddard, Rep. Rick James, Sen. Virgil Peck, Sen. Tim Shallenburger, Rep. Chuck Smith and Sen. Caryn Tyson. In these meetings, SEKLS advocated for continued support of Kansas libraries and shared documents including community impact stories written by member libraries and the 2025 System Plan, which is available for review at sekls.org.

Whitetail deer workshop

FORT SCOTT — The Southwind Extension District and Kansas State Research and Extension are offering a whitetail deer biology and management workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Ellis Family Fine Arts Center at Fort Scott Community College, 2108 Horton St., Fort Scott. The meal is served at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30 p.m.
