The Southeast Sunflowers 4-H Club met on Sunday, Jan. 12, at St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul. President Cashlee Smith called the meeting to order, and Bryton Beachner led the club in the flag salute. Emma Kintzer then did a roll call, “What would you do on a snow day?” After that, she read the minutes from last month’s meeting, which the club approved as read.

Correspondence was given about the fair board work days and a public speaking meeting being offered. Khloe Brown then gave the treasurer’s report.

The leader’s report was given by Heather Vogel, who presented the total funds raised from the club’s trash bag fundraiser. Heather also mentioned the Neosho County fair dates have been set for July 24-28. She also informed the club about the fair board work days, dates and times. Beef tagging information was also presented to the club. Reporter Jackson Beachner sent the December meeting information to The Chanute Tribune and the Southwind Extension District Facebook page. 4-H Council representative reported that the council would meet on Sunday, Jan. 19. A fair board report was given, and the discussion was that the dinner and auction would be Mardi Gras-themed on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Under unfinished business, the club amended the motion from last month’s meeting about donating hockey tickets to the fair board auction and voted on doing a facial and massage gift certificate. The club also voted to do a Valentine’s gift exchange at next month’s meeting and to send Valentine’s cards to the Prairie Mission Retirement Village residents. The club also discussed an exchange meeting. Leader Heather Vogel will try to get that set up and discuss it further at next month’s meeting. The club voted on moving the February meeting to 1 instead of 5 p.m. due to the Super Bowl.

Cassie Vitt demonstrated how to give a general exam on a dog while using her family pet, Willie. Khloe Brown gave a talk about “How to Use Resin.” Vice president Devin Vogel then read next month’s program; the meeting will be Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. at St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul. Cassie Vitt led the 4-H pledge to end the meeting.
