GALS FCE
GALS FCE kicked off 2025 meetings on January 20 in the Fellowship Hall of Humboldt Methodist Church. Defying the frigid winter temperature, 9 members were present to answer roll call and receive a new 2025 program book.
A Chamber of Commerce Christmas greeting was read, the treasurer’s report given and final figures from the Holiday Market were reported. Members will be discussing options of a possible new location to hold the Market in the future. Voting unanimously approved joining the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce and making a donation to the After Prom Committee.
The lesson, “Sifting Through the Flour Bouquet,” given by Mary Anne Lower, enlightened members to the use, pros and cons of cooking with alternative flours instead of the most common, wheat flour. Samples of recipes using alternative flours were made and provided by Lower for members to experience the difference in taste and texture of products described as possibly more nutritionally healthy.
The next meeting will be February 17 at the church with Judy Arbeiter and Diana Holmes teaming up for a lesson, “Please Come to Tea.” A total of 24.5 volunteer hours were recorded and $30.21 collected for the Milk Voucher Project.
