CHANUTE — At the Neosho County Community College (NCCC) Board meeting on September 11, 2024, several key updates and resolutions were discussed.
Reports- David Peter from the Kansas Area Career Center (KACC), Paul Walcher from the Faculty Senate, Kerry Ranabargar from Operations, Sandi Solander, the Treasurer, and Dr. Brian Inbody, the President of NCCC, provided updates on their respective areas.
Old Business- Approval of the 2024-2025 RNR Limit and Budget: Both the RNR (Revenue Neutral Rate) Limit and the budget for the upcoming fiscal year were approved, ensuring the college’s financial stability and planning.
Tobacco Use Policy: The Board approved revisions to the Tobacco Use Policy, which now prohibits tobacco and smoke products within any college vehicle or building, including all distant campuses and sites. Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas. The policy specifies that individuals using tobacco products in their vehicles must be parked at least one row away from buildings and sidewalks, with all waste disposed of inside the vehicle. Violations of this policy will be addressed according to the student or employee handbook.
New Business Title III Grant Raises: The Board approved salary increases for Title III Grant-funded employees for the 2024-2025 contracts, following the same pay increase granted to other employees in May 2024. Continued employment for these positions is contingent upon federal funding.
Trustee Vacancy: The Board discussed filling the vacancy left by Charles Boaz. A notice was published, and two individuals have expressed interest. The Board will appoint a new trustee after reviewing applications.
Request for Alcohol at Chanute Campus Event: The NCCC Foundation requested permission to serve alcohol at the Diamond Jubilee event on November 22, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Board approved this request.
Board Retreat Date: The Board discussed setting a date for their upcoming retreat, focusing on strategic planning and future goals.
