Tony E. Brooks, 71, entered the gates of Heaven on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
Tony was born Nov. 17, 1953, in Chanute to Leona (Schul) and Lester Brooks. Tony was raised in Chanute and was the oldest of three boys. On May 29, 1976, he married Kathy L. Carter in Chanute. Tony followed his love of welding, working for a screw conveyor in Chanute for many years until his failing health forced him into early retirement.
Tony enjoyed fishing and woodworking and passed much of his knowledge to his survivors. Tony left a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Brooks of the home; two children, Chris Brooks (Karen Meyer) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Tracy McDonald (Jeff Stout) of Chanute; six grandchildren, Breianna, Piper, Abagail, Adrienne, Caleb and Jacob; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Doug Brooks and Leonard Brooks.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home and a celebration of Tony’s life will be at a later date.
