The Southeast Sunflowers 4-H Club met on Sunday, Dec. 8. The club started its day off by singing Christmas carols to the residents at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul, where they also took gifts to be given to each resident for Christmas.
The club then traveled to St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul for the monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order by President Cashlee Smith with the flag salute led by Emma Bevans. Emma Kintzer gave the secretary’s report, which approved as read. The club then initiated Ariana Maples as the junior treasurer. She then gave the treasurer’s report.
The leader’s report was given by Heather Vogel where she told the date of the Neosho County Fair Board dinner and auction set for Feb. 15. The club then agreed to purchase hockey tickets and a food card to donate to the auction. Heather also reported that 4-H Days was set for Feb. 1, and the club voted to not do something for this as a club due to other conflicts on that day.
Caisley Smith gave a demonstration on how to make Grinch punch while Cashlee Smith gave a demonstration on how to wrap Christmas gifts. The song leaders led the club in “Happy Birthday” to the December birthdays. Vice president Devin Vogel read next month’s program. The meeting will be at 5 p.m. Jan. 12 at St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul. The 4-H pledge ended the meeting.
The club then had a Secret Santa gift exchange and refreshments followed by decorating the Christmas float for the Christmas parade in St. Paul on Dec. 8.
