Dorothy F. Scott Larez, 87, former resident of Wichita, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.

Born in Parsons on June 30, 1923, she was the daughter of Samuel Jefferson Coots Sr. and Mattie Russell Coots and was the last survivor of seven children. She was raised in southeast Kansas, but lived her adult life in Wichita, Kansas and San Jose, California.

Dorothy was married to Marvin Scott, who preceded her in death August 18, 1995. On October 4, 2006 she married Benito S. Larez, he survives.

In addition to her husband, of Newton; she is survived by a daughter, Janette Weniger, Tucson, Arizona; a stepdaughter, Suzanne Vanderreest, Irvine, Calif.; two grandsons, Tobin Frizzell, of Montana and Robert Manzanares, of Nevada; three stepgranddaughters, and numerous great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, and husband Marvin, she was also preceded in death by brothers; Ralph Coots, Roy Coots, Samuel ‘Jeff” Coots Jr., and sisters, Reba Snyder, Ruby Maxwell and Peggy Cooper.

Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service is planned for a later date.

Dorothy’s family and friends were her greatest joy.
