, 74, Cherryvale, died Monday, Oct. 4, at his home.

Floyd Eugene Hamilton was born July 31, 1936 at Earlton, the son of William Floyd and Mildred Splain Hamilton. He attended Earlton and Chanute schools, then joined the Air Force, retiring after 20 years.

On Jan. 17, 1956 he married Shirley Ann Tremain in Iola. She preceded him in death Sept. 18, 2004.

He worked for Weaver Construction in Aurora, Colo., for 28 years.

Survivors include a son, James Hamilton, Cherryvale; two daughters, Katherine Welch, Clovis, N.M., Brenda Locke, Cherryvale; two brothers, Larry Hamilton, Hemett, Calif., Ronnie Hamilton, Chanute; a sister, Daisy Jones, Platte City, Mo.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8 at Potts Chapel, Cherryvale. Burial will be at Pratt Cemetery east of Independence with military honors provided by McConnel AFB Honor Guard. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. Friday until service time. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home or mailed to P.O. Box 801, Independence, KS.
