Charles Albert Poe, 60, rural Toronto, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. He was born April 4, 1950 in the Dominican Republic, the son of Gilda Godoy.

Charles served as a private in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

In November of 2008, he married Pamela Anne Relph at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center. She survives, at the home.

Also surviving are his mother, Gilda Godoy, Miami, Fla.; a sister, Lourdes Pou, Miami, Fla.; four stepchildren and six stepgrandchildren.

A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center. Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fredonia, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Toronto Post 325. Memorials have been established in Charles’ name with the American Legion Toronto Post 325, American Legion Yates Center Post 13, and the St. Joseph Catholic Church and contributions can be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
