Richard Wayne “Ricky” Jones, 20, Iola, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, as the result of a truck accident.

He was born on May 2, 1990, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, the son of Kenneth and Debbie Kratzberg Jones. Ricky grew up in Iola, living most of his life there. He attended Iola grade schools, transferring to Marmaton Valley in Moran his 8th grade year, graduating from Marmaton Valley High School in 2008.

He loved playing football and softball, fishing, hunting, and going to the car races at Humboldt Speedway. His favorite pastime was spending time with his fiancée Michelle, hanging out with his friends, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and Royals, and Kansas State teams. He loved his family very much and will be missed by them all. He also had two dogs, Ralph and Reece, which he enjoyed very much.

Ricky was employed by Diebolt Lumber in LaHarpe, and part-time at the Madison Avenue Steakhouse.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Nick Kratzberg and James Jones, his grandmother Loretta Jones, and his sister Becky Jones in December of 2004.

Ricky is survived by his fianc√©e Michelle Sollars and their unborn child due Jan. 29, 2011; his parents, Kenneth and Debbie Jones, Iola; his brothers, Thomas Jones, Brian Jones and wife, LaDonna, and Kevin Jones, all of Iola; his sisters, Crystal Jones, Iola; Laurie Hegwald and husband,Jason, Humboldt; Tracy Jones and husband, Dustin O’Connor, Ottawa; Melissa Beal and husband, Shannon, Bonner Springs; seven nephews and five nieces; grandmother Elsie Kratzberg, Greeley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Burial will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery in Scipio. Family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to Ricky Jones Memorial Fund.
