Stanley Dean Tawney, 57, Iola, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Manor Care in Overland Park.

Stanley was born Oct. 13, 1952 in Iola, the son of Murry A. and Betty Jo Robb Tawney. He grew up at LaHarpe and Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1971.

He has worked for Haldex in Iola and Nu-Wa in Chanute. Stanley attended the First Baptist Church in Chanute.

Survivors include an uncle, John Robb and wife, Hazel, Humboldt; two aunts, Dorothy Hemphill, Derby, and Roberta Jean, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and a number of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Murry L. Tawney.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today, Aug. 31 at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, the Rev. Rick Qualls officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Iola.
