Kathryn E. Record, 89, Chanute, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Kathryn was born in Humboldt on Feb. 25, 1921, the daughter of Harold C. and Maude Lena “Dena” Rauhoff Piatt. She attended school in Humboldt.

She was united in marriage to Charles J. Record on June 21, 1937 in Iola,. They made their home in Chanute. He preceded her in death in 1982.

Kathryn was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a young mother she was active in the church, teaching Sunday School among other volunteer work. She was a devout Christian and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She loved baseball and challenging her mind with puzzles, crosswords and word searches. She was an avid reader.

Kathryn is survived by three daughters, Sharon N. Alfonso, Disney, Okla., Charlene K. Sneed, Pryor, Okla., and Vicki Umbarger and her husband, Keith, Chanute; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, one brother, one sister, one half-brother and two half-sisters.

Funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16 at the First Baptist Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in DeWitt Cemetery, rural Humboldt.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.

Memorials in her name may be made to the First Baptist Church, Cherry Street Youth Center, or the Fire Escape Coffeehouse and may be left with the funeral home.

Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
