Kristie A. Blaes, 67, Cherryvale, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at Labette County Health Center due to complications of ALS.

She was born March 16, 1943 in Independence, to Charles “Tiny” L. and Vivian “GG” J. Hurd Moon.

She graduated from Cherryvale High School, Independence Community College and Pittsburg State University. She taught at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Chanute.

On June 10, 1961 she married Robert “Rabbit” L. Blaes. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Bryan P. Blaes, Cherryvale, Sean R. Blaes, Olathe; a daughter, Kelly Passauer, Cherryvale; a brother, Paul Moon, Fort Worth, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is noon to 5 p.m. today at Potts Chapel, Cherryvale. Reciting of Rosary will be 6 today at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Altar Society and may be left with the funeral home.
