Judith “Judy” Elaine Petty, 68, Chanute, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Chanute Health Care Center.

Judy was born in Waverly on Oct. 13, 1941, the daughter of William Houston and Edna Bonner Houston. She graduated from LeRoy High School.

She was united in marriage to Lester Petty on Sept. 5, 1964 in Chanute. He survives, of the home.

She was a homemaker.

Judy was a member of the Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Along with her husband Lester, she is survived by a son Travis Petty and his wife, Rhonda, Oklahoma City, Okla.; a granddaughter, Blair Makenzie Petty, Oklahoma City; two grandsons, Grant William Petty and Quentin James Petty, both of Oklahoma City; and four sisters, Marcella Trostle, Yates Center, Patsy Cann, Pomona, Barbara Lake, Westphalia, and Billie Gildart, Thayer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Shannon Petty in August of 2009; and a grandson Garrett Lee Petty.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 17 at the Church of the Nazarene in Chanute. Burial will be at 10 a.m., on Monday at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Church of the Nazarene and may be left with the funeral home.
