Harold Eugene Sharp, 93, Wichita, formerly of Chanute, died Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Westview Nursing Home in Derby.
Harold was born in Chanute on July 25, 1916, the son of Cecil and Pearl Hedden Sharp.
He was united in marriage to Vernetta Rankin on June 15, 1938. She preceded him in death in 1942. He married Ruby Nichols on Nov. 4, 1944. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2000.
Harold worked as a welder and production supervisor for Churchill Manufacturing.
He was a member of the Steamfitters Union for 65 years.
Harold is survived by a son, Neal Sharp and his wife, Pam, Chanute; a daughter, Rosemary Lawrence and her husband, Larry, Wichita; five grandchildren, Tracy Sharp King and her husband, Alan, Pleasanton, Kelly Sharp Hamm and her husband, Karl, of Waverly, Lesly Sharp Lock and her husband, Clark, Chanute, Shely Sharp Shade, Topeka, and Dr. David Lawrence and his wife, Sharon, Weatherford, Okla.: and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Vernetta and Ruby; a grandson, Andrew Lawrence; and three sisters, Mary Sharp Cunningham, Cecyle Marie Sharp Stone, and Betty Sharp Leatherman; and a brother, Warren Sharp.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Memorials in his name may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice of Wichita or Castaways Animal Shelter and may be left with the funeral home.
