Wilma Joan Larson Emig, 78, Iola, died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Labette Health in Parsons.
Joan was born Nov. 15, 1931 on the family farm west of Savonburg to Elmer F. and Emma Pierson Larson. She grew up near Savonburg, attended Wannersburg School and was graduated from Grant Township Rural High School at Stark.
She accepted Jesus as her Savior as a youth and was confirmed in 1944 at the Savonburg Covenant.
Joan lived in Kansas City prior to her marriage to Arthur Blaine Lloyd on Nov. 27, 1964. He preceded her in death.
She married Robert Emig on Nov. 19, 1988 and moved to rural Solomon. They retired and moved to Salina in 2005. Their marriage ended in divorce.
She has been a resident of Guest Home Estates/Iola Nursing Center in Iola, since 2006.
Survivors include a brother, Leon Larson and his wife, Virginia, Savonburg; a nephew, David Larson, Olathe; two nieces, Natalie Klubek and husband, Kelly, Iola, and Julie Cook and husband, Kevin, Topeka; and four great-nieces.
She will be in-state for friends to pay their respects today and Thursday.
Funeral will be Friday, July 9 at the Evangelical Covenant Church west of Savonburg, Burial will be in Swedish Cemetery, west of Savonburg.
Memorials are suggested to Iola Nursing Center Activity Fund and may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola.
