Charles Edwin Ferguson, Fredonia, 79, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. Charles was born on Dec. 17, 1930 at Tipton, Mo., the son of Edwin L. and Thelma A. Woolridge Ferguson

After high school Charles received his bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Missouri. On March 19, 1952 Charles enlisted into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on May 22, 1953 with the rank of Yeoman Third Class. On Dec. 22, 1950 Charles married Mary Jo Bauers. She died Feb. 14, 1973. On Sept. 10, 1976 in Miami, Okla., he married Colleen Umbarger-Dean. She survives, at the home.

Charles retired from Lafarge in Fredonia as the distributions manager. He was a member of the Thayer United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are four sons, Michael Ferguson, Rochester, N.Y., Scott Ferguson, Wichita, Roger Dean, Altoona, Rick Dean, Afton, Okla.; a daughter, Teresa Chaney, Garden City; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday July 7 at the Thayer United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Thayer City Cemetery. The family willl receive friends this evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home.
