Alice Jean Arthur, 85, Chanute, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Alice was born in Chanute on Feb. 25, 1925, the daughter of Roy and Wanonia Griswold Martin. She graduated from Chanute High School in the Class of 1942.

She was united in marriage to Harold Lewis Arthur on Sept. 27, 1942 in Chanute. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

Alice is survived by a son, Tom Arthur, Chanute; two daughters, Carol Parks and her husband, Merrit, Parkville, Mo., and Marilyn Henderson, Chanute; seven grandchildren, Brent Allen, Kansas City, Mo., Chris and Michele of Liberty, Mo., Zaph Arthur, Chanute, Nathan and Karry Arthur, DeSoto, Paul Arthur, DeSoto, Allen and Rachel Arthur, Parkville, Mo., and Conley Henderson, Danridge, Tenn.; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3 at the First Methodist Church in Chanute. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials in her name may be made to the First United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home.
