Lois M. Luman, 84, Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Chanute, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Kindred Hospital in Las Vegas.

Lois was born in Chanute on Nov. 18, 1925, the daughter of Raymond V. and Vesta Hewitt Clemens.

She was united in marriage to Wilbur Luman on August 31, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1995.

Lois was employed by the Chanute school district in the luncheon program and tutored students in acrobatics and dance.

She was active in the Chanute community having served in the WWII efforts at the Santa Fe train station, and enjoyed extensive travel with the grandchildren as well as sailing on the nearby lakes.

She is survived by three sons, Raymond “Lynn” Luman, Las Vegas, Richard “Lyle” Luman and his wife, Shara, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Ronald Lee Luman and his wife, Debra, Las Vegas; three grandchildren, Mitchell Luman, Gardner, Aaron Luman, Las Vegas, and Brenna Luman, Las Vegas; and several great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.

Memorials in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Veterans of Foreign Wars and may be left with the funeral home.
