Jack R. Joy, 71, Benedict, died early Sunday morning, June 27, 2010 at his home in Benedict. He was born May 10, 1939 in Howard, the son of Ray Laverne and Cleo Katherine Waymire Joy. Jack was a retired brick mason and millwright, working many years for Evergreen Construction.

Jack is survived by his wife, Kathy Coats Roy, Benedict; three children, Leland Ray Joy, Decatur, Ill., Kathy “Katie” Sander, Elsmore, Brandon Coats, Fredonia; a brother, Leon Joy; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Travis Ray Joy in 2001.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 2 at the Weakley Cemetery near New Albany. A memorial has been established in his name with Hope Unlimited and may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
