Marvin O. Wolfe, 92, Chanute, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
He was born in Chanute on Oct. 8, 1916, the son of Clarence R. and Lulu B. Coffin Wolfe. He grew up and attended schools in Chanute.
He was united in marriage to Naomi “Maxine” Lopeman on May 28, 1937. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2007.
He worked as a Meter Reader for the City of Chanute for 25 years until his retirement. He later worked at Wal-Mart until he was 81 years of age.
Marvin was “Santa Claus” for the children of Chanute for more than 25 years.
Marvin is survived by a son, Larry Wolfe, Manhattan; a daughter, Connie S. Pauley, Chanute; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a brother, Floyd Wolfe, Galesburg; and a sister, Pauline Cramer, Bellevue, Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ed Wolfe and Harold Wolfe, and a sister, Martha Ventura.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 at the Earlton Cemetery.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
